Office Lift Halls

Aor Sutthiprapha, a Bangkok-based ceramic artist and designer, is a contemplative ceramics practitioner who associates her passion for clay with meditation by exploring the interrelation between mental capacity and potential within herself. Her contemporary ceramic works are often seen as concrete evidences of her internal dialogues that occur throughout the time-consuming and repetitive working processes.

The cradle-to-cradle design concept refers to a healthy and safe approach to the design of products and their life cycles. Influenced by this, Colossal was first created in 2016 for the REPAPER Exhibition and later became a prototype of The Cradle, the unique collection of ceramic sculptures at The PARQ.

Weft down from the ceiling of the lift halls with a subtle impression, Aor developed The Cradle collection, as a metaphor for the cradle-to-cradle design concept, to convey an idea of a place, a process or an event where something originates, grows and flourishes. The artwork showcases the beauty of the natural material with different interpretations for each hall.

Roots (East Wing)

Shaped in the form of a tree’s roots drawing water from the earth, Roots reveals what is often overlooked. Strength comes from deep within. Supported by strong roots, the building, too, is like a tree.

Interweaving (West Wing)

Interweaving symbolises a space where many lives weave together. Full of warm comradery and boundless creativity, people from all walks of life are harmoniously connected.

The creation of The Cradle is challenging owing to the scale, delicate craft techniques and time-consuming handmade processes. Each small piece was weighed one by one and made for its specific position, in consonance with the designed colour pattern. As ceramic is a sensitive material, only artists with exceptional skills can create these shapes because the results after the sintering is hard to predict.

Aor’s ceramics have been exhibited at various Thai and international venues, such as Singapore, China, Japan, Sweden, Belgium and USA. She is a member of International Academy of Ceramics (IAC). Also, Aor has been invited to join several artist-in-residence programmes abroad.
